How to Write a Constructed-Response Answer Often in class we are tasked with answering questions that require more than a one- or two-sentence answer.  In history, our answers carry more validity when they include evidence, or proof, that backs up our claim.  This type of response is referred to as a "constructed-response answer".  Below a two formulas for writing a proper constructed-response.  The first, the R.A.C.E. method, provides an easy-to-remember acronym that will help you structure your answer.  The second is a bit more detailed but involves essentially the same format.   The following is adapted from Mr. Klingensmith's Online Help Guide The big idea "Constructed-response answer" is the newfangled term for what we used to call a "short-answer essay question."
